"What I love most about my job is the fact that there is no typical day or week, I could be anywhere across the country. I could be sat in front of a procurement director one day and then in a Portakabin with a construction manager the next; I really like the diversity. You have to know how to adapt and almost become a bit of a social chameleon. "

What are your responsibilities within your role?  My role involves looking after strategic customer accounts - ones that have whole fleet solution needs such as rental, long term fleet acquisition and fleet management.

We are the expert in commercial vehicles, we de-risk a lot of their fleet for them so we take a lot of that hassle, risk and the pain points away from them - that is the biggest quality I think the customers see from working with Northgate

How would you describe your relationship with the operations teams?  The relationship with the operational side of the business is absolutely pivotal to what I do, because without them performing, my customer doesn't get the service I have promised them. If I’m absolutely honest, the calibration between sales and operations has never been stronger than it is now. We talk a lot more regularly and the relationships are a lot stronger than they were historically, and I think that is really now being seen by the customer.

What’s the working environment like? There is a lot of banter within Northgate, I have been here 14 years so I am quite lucky to know a lot of characters - this sounds really cheesy but it is a Northgate family! There are people who are more like friends than colleagues, I spend more time with some of these guys than I do my own family.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career with Northgate? You have to work hard but the rewards are endless. It really is a great place to have a career - I have seen so much of that at Northgate and I really want that to continue for the future.  I think that’s the main thing, if you are prepared to work really hard, give it your all and put the time in, you can have a really great career here.
