"I’ve worked in many organisations doing credit control and this is by far the most rewarding and enjoyable job I’ve had for a very long time."

Describe your typical day: My role basically consists of dealing with customers who for some reason may not have paid a bill, they may have a dispute with that bill, they may just be in financial difficulty and I have to manage that, being able to keep them with Northgate while also protecting the company. Sometimes you do get the intense customers who ring up and they’ve got problems with their damage invoices or their billing and we take the care of that on the phone, but you’ve got to remember that you’re here to provide them a service and you need to take the bull by the horns and educate them to make them understand the way Northgate works and keep them as a valued customer.

What’s the working environment like? You come into work and everyone’s here to do the same job. The help and support you get from not only the higher management or your team leader, the support you get from your work colleagues is second to none, it’s absolutely fantastic. I’ve worked in many organisations doing credit control and this is by far the most rewarding and enjoyable job I’ve had for a very long time.

Your advice to someone considering joining Northgate? I would advise people to look into Northgate and how we operate, what we’re about and where we’re based and what we do before coming into an interview because it’s always good to have an insight of how the cogs turn. I would just say for anyone that’s thinking of joining Northgate that it’s not just a job, it’s a career and it’s a fantastic company to work for and the opportunities and the rewards are there to take.
